I am new to this forum, so sorry if this has been answered before. But, does anyone know of any schools known for admitting underrepresented minorities more than others? Also, what about non-traditional students? I know that Temple University is known for admitting non-trads, they are, what is known as, non-traditional friendly! :luck:

Howard, Meharry, and Morehouse are traditionally black schools. Don't know if they have post bacc programs though.

For most schools, the average stats of URM's are lower than for non-URM's, which means that most schools "preferentially" admit URM's to increase class diversity.

And ofcourse that AVERAGE would be higher if more minorities were ACTUALLY admitted and not the 2-3 URMs that you see in each class.

Please don't let this become one of those affirmative action threads. We've had too many of those on the pre-allopathic forum already...😡

Is your comment "AFFIRMATIVE ACTION" comment in response to stinky cheese? I hope so. I was addressing his sly comment insinuating that URMs have lower gpas and thus are less competent.

Alright guys, I definitely did not mean to start an affirmative action thread. I was just asking about underrepresented minorities is all! We all need to chill.

My advice:
Don't look for loopholes or schools that tend to accept "certain kinds of people". Apply to whatever school you want to go to for post-bac regardless of how many minorities are accepted or not. If you look promising on paper and you make some contact with them so they can meet you either via phone or in person then they will get an idea of what kind of person/student/future doctor you are. Go For It!

I never said they were less competent, but it is true that it is easier to get into a medical school if you are URM. If you have a Hispanic woman with a 3.5/30 MCAT, she has a better chance of getting in than a white man with a 3.5/30 at pretty much any school. It's just the way it is.

Don't be offended by everything.

I'm a B student. I dont have many A's on my transcript. There is nothing wrong with B's. So keep you r head up 🙂
