For fourth years at UNECOM, do students have the opportunity to go anywhere for rotations or are the sites pretty much restricted to the New England area? I'd love to go to Boston 4th year..many outstanding hospitals there like BUMC and Brigham. Any UNECOM 4th years there now? 🙂

I am still a pre-med, so I cannot definitively answer this question (I'm sure an actual UNECOM student will eventually give a better answer) but in the meanwhile... I am interested in UNECOM so I have done quite a bit of "research" into the school. If you check out their website (www.une.edu) and look at the sitemap area for the med school category, there is a listing of their possible rotation sites. I believe this list is fairly accurate and inclusive.

I met once with their Recruitment Office, and rotations were one of the items we discussed. It sounded to me like the rotations are assigned from the list to the student body by lottery, but you might have the possibility of switching assignments with each other after the draw if amicable options are available. I was under the impression that if a site wasn't on this list that it wasn't an option, but I'm not certain about this.... UNECOM students, feel free to correct me and provide a more indepth answer (I'd like to know more about the rotation process myself).

3rd year are done at the sites listed on the website and in handouts we received at interview.

I asked about 4th year rotations. I was told we have to decided where we wish to go and make the necessary arrangements. I asked if I can come to Canada and do my rotations, they said that is not a problem but I would have to arrange it myself (Of course UNECOM has to approve the location).

So the answer is YES! 4th year is really a chance for you to show your stuff for potential residency spots/ and for you to pick the area of interest to you. I am sure you can contact UNECOM and talk to the person in charge of this. Or if you prefer log on to the UNE pipeline (only accepted and present students have access) and post this question to 3rd and 4th year students.
