Do you think it is ethical for school to do this? They send you a request to pay the fee before they can review your application. The school is in the opposite coast, so it would take at least 3 days to get there. Next day, they mail a rejection even though the check has already been mailed out and hasn't arrive yet. Pretty devious scheme to make money on rejection. I wonder how many kids do they do this to. Ok@$#! that's my rant.

any way you can stop payment on the check? if it's still en route, there's a chance!

also, sometimes schools make a mistake, and perhaps the rejection letter is a mistake- only way to know is to call and ask.

Ya know, I think that is past bieng an ethical issue. I believe there is a legal issue here. If only you can find something that says that the secondary fee is necessary for reviewing the application, then, you could do the following:

1) Possibly argue that they have not reviewed it before rejecting it.

2) Ask for a refund, because further review of the application is no longer necessary since the rejection has been issued.

If you go with #1, they might keep the money and then be kind enough to send you another rejection letter. If you try #2, you might get a refund.

all the power to you.

Case Western did this to me last year. oh yeah....and again this year....:laugh:

stop payment on the check. screw those bastards.

ok let's say you do put a stop payment on the check....what if you end up re-applying next year to the same school. would they have a record of this? i would think they would....but then again, i might just be a paranoid freak.

1) you're a paranoid freak, and

2) more importantly, why would you reapply to a school that did something like this to you anyways?

I did it because I was desperate...:laugh: not all of us are already in D school.

I can stop payment, but that is just not me. Who knows what I plan to do next year. If I reapply, I will probably never apply that school again. Those hipocrits!

Stop payment. If you don't, you're just dumb. They don't care about your application fee, because if they did that would have waited to have received it before they rejected you.

i've had schools call me begging just to go to the interview so they can accept me. so if you're asking is it unethical to reject your ass after they take your money, i'll say they've done much worse.
