Uni of Michigan, Uni of Alabama, UNi of wisconsin

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Looking at U Mich myself, they have a strong focus on research, if that's what you're interested in. Don't know about UAB or UW, but I've had plenty of colleagues talk about Madison WI as a beautiful city, and "an oasis of liberalism in a desert of conservatism," which is good or bad depending on your political leanings. All three are nice college towns, sorry can't be more helpful on the quality of the programs.

thanks. tried scutwork.com but thats not up to date.

Hey there-
I am an intern at umich right now. It is a decent psych program, one of the better i interviewed at and I like the people here a lot. They have all fellowships and are heavy in reserach. I am not at all interested in research but they do not force you in to it. They do have 2 special tracks- one for reserach and one for academic medicine, or you can be like me and just do the traditional program.
If you have more sepcific ?????? feel free to ask me.

This isn't my post, but I hope you don't mind me asking something, since I also have an interview there. How is the psychotherapy training? I've been told that UMich is a bit more biologically based.

Thanks!

Thanks!

The clinical training is quite biological (as mainstream programs should be in this century), but there is a strong presence of the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute, as well as bona fide experts in CBT, DBT, and IPT who practice and teach there. I was very pleased with my overall training there.
