AMSA's HEART elective still has openings!

HEART stands for Humanistic Elective in Activism, Alternative Medicine and Reflective Transformation. For four weeks, 25 or so medical students plus a rotating faculty preceptor from University of Florida Medical School will live & learn together in a unique cooperative environment that we create a retreat center in Ben Lomand, CA. Our community will be focused around the exploration of the healing path. We will cook and clean together, teach and learn from each other. At the same time, we will be expanding our knowledge on a number of important topics not typically emphasized in medical school curricula through visiting lectures. The topics range from cultural competency in healthcare to mediation.

"...exploration of the healing path." Sorta sounds like a cult but if you're into that stuff then why not? I suppose there are worse things you could do with your elective time.

Edit: Just had a flashback. Does this remind anyone else of an episode of Scrubs with a very touchy-feely surgeon that insisted on hugging people?

I may have seen pictures of one of these or something similar somewhere on SDN before.

AMSA is what you call a hippie organization, yes?
