Hello everyone. I wanted to let you know of a special elective that me and a few other fourth year students are planning. Its called HEART, which is short for the Humanistic Elective in Activism, Alternative medicine and Reflective Transformation.

We will provide 25 fourth-year medical students with a unique and rewarding way to conclude their medical school careers and prepare for their future work as healer-physicians. We are looking for people who have a strong interest in exploring the path of healing within the modern world and medical system.

All of us will spend the month-long elective in a cooperative living and learning environment. The goal is to create a community focused around the exploration of the healing path and at the same time expanding our knowledge on a number of important topics not typically emphasized in medical school curricula. The elective is accredited by the University of Florida College of Medicine as a general elective in internal medicine.

If you want to know more about it, please contact me here. There's also a web site (http://www.amsa.org/heart) I'm very excited about this project and want to share it with those of you who need a special experience before intern year. Thanks!

Is this some sort of advertisement?

The OP has a total of 1 post and it is about a website he is affiliated with. I would say so. 👎

It sounds like some sort of social experiment.

I've had enough of that sort of thing already (it's called 'medical school').

While I do generally think it's poor form for someone to create a new username just to advertize on SDN, I do know that this is a legiminate elective through AMSA. I've heard good things about it, as a friend of mine did it a few years ago. It's certainly not the kind of thing that would appeal to every medical student, but if it is congruent with your interests, check it out...

Hi OP,
Thanks to:
-the fact that you posted that site above
-the fact that you live in Cleveland
-the fact that you have red hair
-and the wonder of the internet,
Now we can all know exactly who you are!

not that i figger you're coming back anyway

Holy crap, and you charge 1,000 dollars? You could literally not pay me enough to do this.

Ok now it is official. This is an ad. It would be no different than if a school came on here and advertized their online medical spanish courses or I tried to sell my review books. I think this post should be put where it belongs.

Sounds boring to me. Good luck finding some tree-huggers for that one.

This thread should be closed.

It was dying a slow death before you came along and brought it up near the top of the forum. If you didn't notice, no one had posted on it for 11 days, which hardly sounds like a close-worthy thread
