I'm concerned not about the actual charges but rather not sounding like I'm making excuses. I was accused of felony possession of synthetic marijuana. The driver of the car I was in did not claim it and it was, of course, in the passenger door. Since nobody claimed it, we both got arrested.
4 years later and the case was dismissed after a lab found it to be fake or they lost it. Lawyer wasn't sure 100% as to what happened. All I know is my name was cleared. Will this even show up? EVERYONE says "it wasn't mine". I dont want to say it too even though it's the truth and the lab found it to be fake (more likely than losing it anyway).
Right around the same time as the synthetic marijuana charge, I was at a party. Newly 21 and proud I could legally drink at this party (they were only charging underage and not doing the association charges). So when the cops pulled someone asleep in the passenger side of a turned off car and tazed him..I started filming. Stupid.
After being told (on video) that i was allowed to record, another cop comes up to me 45 seconds later and starts threatening me to stop recording. He backs me into the street and they charge me with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
I proceed to miss my court date and I moved in with my parents to stop getting into trouble. Been fine since. But those charges and the missed court are still out there (a google search of my name brings up a warrant..) As is my video of being told I can record followed by me being pushed into the road.i plan on showing it to the lawyer.
Assuming I get this taken care of, whether it gets expunged and I dont have to explain it, or I do have to explain it, do I leave all that stuff (the truth) out? Even though I have video evidence of being told I was fine to record and then being pushed into public property, it just sounds like I dont take responsibility for my actions and make excuses if I tell the real story. Would you agree? How would I frame this?
I plan on either taking (assuming I dont get some sort of probation and am required to anyway) some alcohol classes or maybe speaking to kids or something about alcohol and drugs. But I'm unsure about the rest. Thanks for your time. I'm 26 and the events in question happened when I was 21 and 22 for reference.
