Hi everyone,

There were mixed responses in the interview feedback, I was wondering if anyone was intervied there, and their post-interview pros and cons.

This school should be very good according to publications.

Thanks

There has to be someone out-there who visited or been to that college.😕

Hi!

I'm a first-year at Pitt and I love it!!! I was accepted at several other schools and chose Pitt because of my interview experience. The facilities are amazing, the people are very friendly and welcoming, and the professors are really knowledgeable and readily accessible. I truly love it here! I'm from California and Florida and I don't mind being so far away from home because I am so happy here. If you have any specific questions, please post them here. I'll be happy to answer!

Thanks!!!

Hey diane,

Could you post which schools you selected pitt over, and maybe a few good things that the school offers that others do not. Do you have any complaints about the school? I'm considering Pitt, but would have to choose it over an in-state school (cheap).

Hi Mo, I had my pitt interview today and I haven't had the chance to post my experience yet but I can tell you that I had a good time there! I was in the same position you are before my visit to pitt, I read the other reviews and some of the threads that people posted and I was really apprehensive about going to pitt for my interview. Having said that, I had a great time at pitt, the city is really nice (not too exciting but really I can't imagine getting too bored living there), the dental school itself is nice as well, the facilities are nice and clean, the simulation labs were pretty impressive as well. Overall, I think the school has a lot to offer! I tried to talk to as many students as I could (the days was pretty condensed) and I wasn't able to find one person that had a bad thing to say. I know that there is a first year in this forum that is not happy with the school and keeps bashing the school, but I feel that you can always find that one person that is never happy with what he has, and that's true for life as well I think. If you are not sure where you want to go, give pitt a chance, go there and see if you like it, you have nothing to lose just by going there..(except for a few $$$, but it's an investment right?😉 ), finally, the only thing that I feel that this school could do better would be a better or a more informative website, it was a hard time for me to get information about the school and its programs from the website, and they didn't send me any brochures like other schools, so my knowledge about the school was pretty slim, but hey, more questions to ask the students, right? good luck to you at your interview, hope I was able to answer a few of your questions with this lllllonnnnng post 😛

dmoney

I will pm you, plus you did a great job answering my questions.

Hi!

I was accepted at Boston U, NYU, Detroit Mercy, Tufts, and waitlisted at a few others (Nova, Creighton, Marquette). I don't want to say anything negative about the other schools, because I really don't know too much about them, just about what I've heard on SDN and the impression I got at my interview. If you get an interview at PITT, you really should come and check it out. It's not in a flashy city like Fort Lauderdale, New York, or Boston, but it has it's own charm to it. People are really friendly too. As for the website, I believe that Pitt hired a company to completely revamp the existing website and it should be updated in the near future. At the dental school, they also have a dental informatics department that is truly excellent. Our computer class professors are really knowledgable in all of the cutting edge dental technology stuff. So, don't let the website fool you about the technology at PITT. They are really good at staying current.

Please, feel free to ask me any other questions!!!

Thanks,

I have a question about Pitt....I have heard good things about the school and applied there, but haven't heard anything back regarding interviews. They received my complete application in September sometime. I thought that I would have heard back from them. Do you have any insight as to out-of-state criteria for Pitt? I'm about a 3.3-3.4 student and have a BS and MS in Mech Engineering, 18-20 on DAT's, and a 4.0 in all my bio/science classes since returing for pre-dental. Although I don't live in Pittsburgh, I was born there and have family there. I'm really hoping to hear from them!
