Hi,

I had applied to Kean University, about 2 weeks ago.

It isn't really a "great" school, but I figured that since i'm going to be a Pre-Health student.... It doesn't really matter...?

I got a full scholarship, room and board paid for to attend the school, and zero debt is huge for me going into the future.

If I wanted to apply to Med school or Dental school in the future, how much would the ranking of this University really be a detriment towards my chances of success?

It doesn't look terrible actually. Close enough to big cities to allow the option of diverse ECs. If it is a good fit I'd say go for it, but I wouldn't say that university choice doesn't matter. It's just a matter of balancing finances, opportunities, and fit.

Always take a free ride... If you do go to medical school you'll have more debt than you'll know what to do with...and if you don't, you won't make enough off a bachelors degree to pay back a bunch of undergrad loans

Thank you both for the advice! I feel a lot more comfortable making this decision 👍

It won't be a detriment to your success. Go for the university that you like. The fact that you will have zero debt is a big plus. Whether you get into medical school is up to you and your ability and drive. Its rarely ever the university's fault.
