Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of Auckland's medical programme. From what I understand it's the only university in New Zealand to accept international students into their grad-entry programme (Otago only accepts intl students straight out of HS).
Any ideas about their international reputation, etc?

Thanks!

I too would like to know more information about the school. I'm currently enrolled in a medical school that allows me to complete the second part of my medical education (a twinning program) at several overseas medical schools including auckland and otago. What is the current work permit situation in Australia/NZ right now? We all know its all hell for IMG's in the UK right now...lets keep our fingers crossed.

I know a bit about IMU from my Malaysian friends; but I don't know enough to answer your questions....

Oh well, good luck.

If I were an IMU student, I'd definitely choose Edinburgh over all other schools! 🙂 It's got such an illustrious history! Not sure about the career prospect in Scotland though....

Sure, the UK would be an awesome route to take, but with the high tuition rate (and steadily increasing every year) and bleak work opportunities, I don't think it is a wise decision to head over there. The 2006 Edinburgh tuition for international students is 24,500 pounds!! Thats even more then St. George in London.

I am now looking at Australia/NZ -- perhaps I could go to the UK for my post-graduate specialization training?

What about the US? Can't you transfer to a couple american med schools from IMU? Plenty of work opportunities there. 🙂

Possible, however, I've already live in the U.S for the last 9 years and want to see the rest of the world 😀 I heard Australia is nice too.

True, We'll good luck. I say transfer to the country that you want to practice in when you finish. 👍

Yep -- do you know whats the deal with post-graduation specialization? Where can I find out more informationa bout CME (fellowships?).

Would it for example, be possible to complete your training to a full specialist in the UK before returning to NZ?
