Who out there is waiting or has heard from University of Colorado lately? I had my interview on Jan 12th and I know this school usually takes awhile to get back to you. Any thoughts? Fellow hopefuls?

yeah colorado sucks. The only good thing about it is barbara, she is nice =]. Nah i have not heard, but am still waiting. Im pretty sure i wont get in though my interview went horrible. One of the guys was pretty rude to me

Yeah, I know other interviewees really struggled through their interviews too. I felt like mine went well - but maybe that's just the bubble of optimism that has protected me throughout this whole frustrating business.

Well, let me know what you hear. When did you interview?

I had a chance to speak with barbara and one of the faculty member and they told me that they are not meeting until feb. The adcom meetings after that are in march and april.

btw, i interviewed on oct 13th

How did your interview go? So many people have had miserable experiences at CU Denver. Of course, I've heard of students who had HORRIBLE interviews and were then accepted.

I'm pretty sure mine went well - it was just VERY thorough. With such a small class size, it's been very hard to weigh my odds.

the interview went a whole lot better than last year. We pretty much talked about my volunteering experience and my sister. She was a recent cu dental school grad so they asked me few questions about her. other than that, it was okay

i had the first day of interviews. I cant remember the date. Yeah one guy was very nice, the student was nice, but the other doctor was not cool at all. I wish i knew his name. as far as im concerned, i would go there just to save the money, but if the one guy is part of their faculty, and CU chose him to interview, then their faculty must all be pretty bad.

I could only assume Schools would have great guys doing interviews. I dont know if what i just said makes sense. Im kind of out of it today.

SuiteGrl, how many people were at your interview, if you don't mind me asking.

Erm... I think around 9-12 people were there. I didn't count. I think 12 because we were split into three groups of four - but there could have been some no-shows

I also interviwed on the first interview date (I believe it was Oct. 22nd).
I really enjoyed the whole process. We mainly talked about my research and extracurricular activities. I heard back from the school on Nov. 30th.

Good luck!

I too heard from CU on Nov. 30th but had to decline the offer...so one more spot for you! That Nov. 30th acceptance day they offered 20 acceptances so I know for sure that you have at least 32 spots left (50-20+me+superduper 😉 )

I just got an interview for Feb. 9th or March 1st. I canceled all my other interviews after the UCLA acceptance, but plan on going to this one. Any advice?

Where are you going instead (if you don't mind me asking)?

I had three interviewers (1 faculty + 1 dentisty from denver + 1 student). The interview was about 40 minutes long and we mainly covered general topics, such as "why dentistry" "why CU" "career goal"..etc

I thought the interview process was quite laid-back. I think you will be fine with not much preparation 🙂😀😉

Hi- I just found out that i have an interview with CU -- does anyone have any suggestions on how to prepare...it seems like some people have had some rough interviews

I was lucky and had a laid back/enjoyable interview. Just be yourself and give honest answers. That's truly all you need. Maybe check out the school's website, so you know all about what it has to offer http://www.uchsc.edu/sod/

Good luck and enjoy the interview! You will do great! 😀

I think I'm just going to withdraw from Colorado, in 2006 they only accepted 16 of the 73 out-of-state interviewed and I'm sure most were from WICHE states which I am not from. An interview this late would probably be a waste of time/money. Besides, I'm in at UCLA and I want to practice in Southern California eventually so it makes sense to go to UCLA. Good luck to everyone at the next Colorado interviews! It must be a great school of the 16 out-of-state students accepted all 16 ended up attending!

I'm definitely going and definitely accepting if offered a spot. I want to move to Colorado and I want to stay there, I don't care if it costs more (yes, I've been there before😛). I know I could save my money, go in-state, and apply for a GPR later, but I don't care. Even if the odds are against me (out-of-state, non-WICHE), I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I didn't go to the interview. What if I can get in? Don't know if I don't try!

yes i interviewed there this late last year as well...75 percent of the class was full, which means they'll only accecpt a few more students, mostly wiche and instate...didnt get it (thanks to it being the last round of interviews, but got in somewhere else)

they told me that they accept most people that want to stay in CO to practice afterwards, instate, wiche, and BEYOND AWESOME out of state stats (like one person)...

at the interview day, they lay it down for everyone... how many are accepted and by when, how many interviewed instate, wiche, they tell you that you have a good shot, but its not true....SOO, this late, chances are 👎. my advice, dont waste the money, stay where you are cuz its better there (im sure)..

ive heard alot of racist comments coming from CU's faculty and students among other students (source is coming from students IN SCHOOL!) as well as all the crud you hear about how tough the interview is, CUZ THEY ARE REALLY THAT RUDE THERE.

everything about this school jut turns me off...not as awesome as people are makking is seem or think anyway..just my honest thoughts. PM for more advice if needed. 🙂

I like the odds.

CU is right in the middle of acceptances right now. I know other schools are filling up or already full, but it's just not so at this university. They are extremely selective, but from what I've seen - if you make it to the interview you're in good shape.

They have plenty (relatively) of spots left, so don't turn down the opportunity!😀

Maybe I'll go, I am interested in the school...

1. Colorado: love Colorado, want to live there permanently. top choice
2. Indiana: my state school, close to family/friends
3. Penn: friend graduated from Penn, would be above Indiana on my list if I had received a scholarship (no scholarship)
4. Maryland: Curiosity (heard it was worth checking out), felt that only applying to 3 schools was too few.

I sent in my application after I took the DAT, so I was able to narrow down my choices based on scores. I'm glad I went to a couple different interviews, though I probably would not go to the Colorado one if I thought I wanted to practice in Indiana or somewhere other than Colorado. My wife and I would both love to live and stay in Denver, though, so I'm going.

CO resident, 3.90 GPA, 24 DAT, interviewed on September 22. Baylor accepted me as an out of stater and CU still hasn't as an in-stater...makes tons of sense. I'm pretty sure I'll hear from them eventually, but am having loads of trouble wondering about which one I'd choose

I know what you mean. I'm a CO resident and interviewed at CU back in sept. got good stats and accepted at San Antonio as an out of stater... yet nothing from CU.

Actually, for the class of 2011, 13 students are out of state NON-wiche, about half of the class are instate. CU needs the money. Expect more out of state for the next incoming class.

I decided to go after all, anybody else in the afternoon session Fab. 9th?

I know the feeling... Interviewed in the 1st batch at Colorado back in September... Have good stats, CO resident... Got accepted to Pitt Oklahoma and Creighton and havent heard a single word from Colorado

Barbara said the next ad com meeting is on Feb 1st. I'm going to call and find out then.

just got accepted at CU, guess they're calling people today. caught me off-guard so heads up y'all

I'm going morning Feb. 9th, probably drive around a bit in the afternoon. I'd be game for evening beverages, though, if anyone's sticking around for the night.

I'd love to, but I'm flying in the morning of and flying out that night...

Yay to Hotshot and Caffinehigh! Are you both attending CU in August then?? 😀
I am so excited!!!

See you at orientation... :hardy:

Congrats on the acceptance! Now I will pick up where you guys left off a couple of days ago...I'm a Colorado resident, good GPA/DAT interviewed in Rocktober, accepted outta state, but still no word from CU.

Now hopefully this post will have the same result as it did for caffeinehigh and hotshot:luck:

hold on, I have a question!

Has anyone been rejected/waitlisted post interview????

It seems everyone has just NOT HEARD A THING since their interview??

Thanks.:scared:

Last year (my junior year) I interviewed at CU on the Jan 15 date and didn't hear anything back until mid April (Rejection).

This year (my senior year) I interviewed at CU in the 1st group on Sept 10ish? and didn't hear back until yesterday (Acceptance).

Hope that helps people. I am CO resident.

I hope I'm next! *fingers crossed*

To call or not to call. That is the question. February 1st is luring me in.

Has anybody heard anything from CU yet today? When I talked to Barbara a few weeks ago she said they would be sending the next round of acceptances out today. I am going nuts waiting to here anything!

just got the call @12pm. My #1 choice. Best of luck to all of you who are still waiting, hope I will see ya in the fall. I interviewed in NOV.

Who wants to start a facebook? I am just so excited to meet my future classmates!

Yay I just got accepted to ucdenver. I had the Jan 12th interview also. I called them tho today cause i got accepted somewhere else, but colorado stands higher on my list. They told me over the phone that I was accepted and that they were going to call me 'soon'. Im non colorado, non wiche so i am psyched!

Also everyone was really nice at colorado, especially the faculty member who was part of the interviewing team. I didn't experience any rude or racist people that someone from above was refering to.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the packet in the mail after you get the acceptance call. Thanks.
