I was looking for those that are going to be attending Louisville next year. I sent in the deposit today, and want to meet any future classmates.

None... ULSD Class of 2011 = 2 people. Good news, we'll both be in the top 5 in the class! (and the bottom 5, but I try to be a glass-is-half-full kind of guy)

I may be there..but i still cant decide between UL/BU?!?!?!?!?!?

-it is literally driving me crazy...

In-state student coming from Lexington. Accepted to both UK and UofL, but liked UofL so much more that I'm leaving UK. See you guys in July.

Boston is like four times the cost once you figure in living and tuition, so with the money you save take a trip to Boston for a week and then come to Louisville. Plus it's alot warmer here and there is an awesome footbal team and pretty good basketball team.

I'm on U of L's waitlist right now...i've already gotten into NYU but if Louisville by some FREAK chance takes me it will be hard for me to say no. I really liked the school, and one of my best friends moved the louisville just this past summer and I'd love to see her more often. Keepin the fingers crossed!

For those of you familiar with U of L's application process, is the class likely filled by now? Just wondering since I see that there are people on the waitlist. Do you know if interviews are still be granted for spots in the next class/waitlist or both? Thanks.

They do not fill their class until after February. they specificall do not fill the class until after all interviews, and they do interviews until then.

Are all of our textbooks digital at UL? Im guessing they all come on the laptop they give us right?

So, louisville does require incoming first years to purchase a laptop for class? Are we allowed to sell it once we purchase it, in order to use our own choice of computers? (i'm a tablet-aholic)

They didn't give my roommate a computer, nor do I remember him saying it is required to have one.

All of your patient info is entered in a computer system they have (i think its called blackboard) but you can use computers at the school to access it.

I asked the roomie about this recently because I wanted to know how big a laptop to buy because I wanted to know if it would fit in the lockers there in the basement, and he said "why are you buying a laptop?, You don't need one"

Hypothetically speaking, if someone's inlaws were really excited that their favorite son-in-law finally got into dental school and they wanted help out by buying a laptop, and this son-in-law was going to Louisville, what would the best laptop option be? Is there one that they recommend, or that works well with their online resources, or that they may give a good student discount on? Money for them is no object, but I wouldnt want to suggest an outlandishly priced laptop and reveal my greedy little punk side, either. Any suggestions?

I suggest the new IBM/Lenovo X60 tablet. I just got one and I am in love with it. It makes it so easy to search your notes and you can draw on the screen to annotate on top of teachers notes, etc. I highly recommend it. If you ask for the Visa discount, you will save a bundle.

It is the premier tablet out right now. You can spend the next few months getting used to using it.

I suggest Onenote 2007 for notetaking etc. Good luck

I think any nice laptop would be fine. I'm thinking of getting a new Apple.

Do any of you know if there is a student discount you can get through the school?

I sent in my deposit today. Count me in!

has anyone gotten any more information about the orientation dates, financial aide, or anything other than the fact that they recieved the deposit?

Nada.. I got the email from Robin yesterday saying that they got my deposit and that I would get the supplemental info in 10 days

I have not heard from them either. I'm going to stop by tomorrow to talk to one of the faculty about working during Smile KY. I'll stop by and see Robin and try to get some details.

Congrats to all those choosing Louisville.

I am a D1, so if you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

BTW....laptops are not required, but helpful for downloading powerpoint presentations, study guides, etc. Heck, some of our instructors still use overhead projectors! Louisville is OLD SCHOOL...like me.

GO DEVILS!

anybody who mailed there deposit get any updates from UL?

Still waiting as well. I thought I heard that orientation was either the day before or the day after the Fourth of July, so taking the average and saying the fourth is the first day there are still 158 days left. This is kinda like counting down for Christmas, but without the eggnog, presents, and christmas parties with that overweight, weird uncle dressing up as Santa.

im bumping this thread back!

Hey, Sundevil didnt I see you were defecting and thinking that Oregon was the place for you? Did you decide between the two yet? Louisville is great, but living on the northwest coast is my favorite area in the states.
Everyone get their packet from Louisville?

I thought about it...but im sticking with my gut and my first decision! Yeah I got my packet last week..in fact Im going to go get the first of my hep B vaccination tomorrow.

Im going to be in louisville for my spring break, let me know if you have any free time to chill.
