Any suggestions on places to park for the maryland interview? is the garage really accessible or is it easier and more efficient to park elsewhere?

also, how bad is morning traffic? I know 495/395/95 will be jammed but what about traffic in the city itself?

also, what's a good place by the school to grab coffee and breakfast food that morning, even starbucks or mcdonals will do 🙂

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE INTERVIEWING SOON!

Their email gives you a parking garage to park at. (Drive past the dental school and turn left on Paca St. The Garage is to your right) It's up to $12 for 7+ hrs and a dollar or so less for every hour less. This garage is perfect for first timers, because it's easy to find. The roads there can be confusing, but a dental student there said there was $4 parking somewhere there.

Traffic was fairly light. You could do 80mph on the highways without problems. Not really traffic in the city too. Traffic AFTER the interview is another story, but there was an ice storm at the time when I went.

There's a McDonalds very near by, but be prepared to be hit up for money by the homeless. Across the street from the dental school is the medical center, so you can prolly find a food court inside the hospital somewhere. There're also more markets a couple blocks from the school if you feel like pizza, burritos, and much much more.

THANKS this helps a lot but where is this other parking? Just wondering if its worth it to park there instead of the garage perhaps. i've been to the area a lot before but still would like to be not exactly at the
Front door of the school that way it's another reason to see more of the area. I don't mind homeless people asking me for money so I guess I will def. try to find that mc'ds cuz I'd like a place to sit and drink coffee and just kinda get ready after the car ride in the AM. Did you also drive to the interview?

Also, can anyone please share how many people they interview per day?

I'm not sure about parking b/c I took the light rail when I interviewed, but there is a starbucks on the same street on the dental school on the corner of Eutaw & Baltimore. But, if you want something convenient there is an excellent cafe in the dental school on the first floor. They have GREAT egg sandwiches. You can hang out down there until your interview day starts and just take in the school.

jb!🙂

I drove there. Dunno where the other deck is.

I remember around 15 students at my interview.

yay! this post is very helpful because i had the exact same questions. I'll be driving from the wva panhandle, about 80 miles. If the interview day starts at 11:30 how far in advance would be a reasonable time to leave. I'm not sure how traffic will be because I've never driven those roads during the morning commute.

I'm also interviewing the 20th!

Oh that's right I didn't realize the light rail and the Marc train run right to the school. I look up info on both and I was going to metro to union station in DC and then catch another train from there to the school but the light rail doesn't go as far as union station but the Marc train does and it has a stop near the school as well, the university center stop is the closest one I think.

Did anyone else take the Marc train? I've never used it so I don't know what to expect other than a really crowded train because I think a lot of commuters use it for work right?

You can take the Marc train into camden yards and walk to the school. It's about a 10 minute walk.

thank you!!! you're right camden yards line works great but after looking up the timings it doens't seem plausible, I'd have to wake up at 4am in order to make the last 8am train because they seem to run it a lot in the morning and then in the evening and not every hour (I guess to accomodate commuters going to work since that must be their main customer). Looks like I will be driving and parking in the garage after all but I will def. still try to go to the cafe in the dental school! 🙂

On of the interview feedback posts someone mentioned how the garage fills up fast and be sure to know where another one is. Google maps shows a lot of others but can anyone suggest which is a good "back up garage?" In case the first one is full? I'm just so excited to be interviewing there finally, I want to make sure I am best prepared as possible. 😳 especially since it's my number one choice so far so I'm very eager to interview and see/hear more about it!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
