For any of you out there that have applied to this school, I'm having a bit of trouble navigating through it's website. I seem to be running around in circles. Are international students applying as an undergrad? There seems to be no mention of recommendations required? Is it easier to apply using their melbourne model?
Sorry, I feel like an idiot not being able to find out such basic info. It's just, the pdf application looks sooo much shorter in comparison to US apps.
Also, it appears that the schedule there is that you study all year round and get 8 wks of summer break? But no winter? So is that 10 straight months of school?
Sorry that there are so many questions hehe. Any help would be great.
Thanks!

Nobody wants to help me? 🙁

Hi Sandbox,

There's only one Melbourne uni vet student that I know of (Freyamaxine) who sometimes uses the forum but she's a local student, not international, so her application process would be different. I suspect you do apply as an undergraduate (because it is an undergraduate course). Maybe try emailing their student coordinator with your specific questions? ([email protected] ). Also the FAQs (http://vet-unimelb.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/vet_unimelb.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php) and international office http://www.futurestudents.unimelb.edu.au/int/index.html should also be able to help you.

Good luck! :luck:

Also in Australian universities you get about 3 months off over Summer (end of November to start of March) and then usually about 3-5 weeks off over winter (July) plus a week off in the middle of each semester.

(Although you will have practical work placements in the 'holidays')

Hi here is a link to the 2008 academic dates for the year http://www.vet.unimelb.edu.au/student/2008_calendar.pdf

I don't really know what AVCC week is (something to do with lecturers or post grads?), but for us undergrads it is just normal holidays.

In semester one we get one week of holidays, and in semester two we get two. In between the semesters we get 4 weeks of holidays (thought it could be much longer depending on when your exams are).

During the first two years we have to do 8 weeks of work experience. I think these can be done overseas so you can just do them back in America.

I don't know anything about applying as an international student. I would direct you to http://www.vet.unimelb.edu.au/international.html though you have probably already looked there. Summiting a question is really helpful, and they get back to you within a couple of days.

Thanks you guys!
I have actually emailed them but they haven't responded back yet......=/

Thank you for your help tho, and I will try contacting them again.
