I was looking into their Ph.D program in Clinical Psychology and was wondering if anyone in the forums have ever attended the school. What sort of qualifications did they looked having recieved an offer from them? Was it a fully funded program? Anyone have any experienced with this program? Thanks.

I didn't attend UM myself, but it seems to be a very solid program. Particularly given it's location, I'd imagine it's very competitive application-wise. Their website should have information on the funding status and characteristics of recent incoming classes (e.g., average GRE scores and GPAs).

I didn't attend U. Miami, but I did apply there and interview there last year for the Clinical Ph.D. It is a great program, and definitely fully funded, but, as others here have said, it is pretty competitive. Most applicants have significant research experience.

@KyloRen did you get accepted? I'm wondering what kind of research experience area they are looking for acceptance.

What the others said. I was told that faculty members there wouldn't know whether they were getting funding from the department to recruit a PhD student until after the application deadline. So even if they plan to take one, it really depends on whether they're offered funding ultimately. Definitely ask and still apply if there's a match.

I currently live in Miami, FL.

University of Miami is very competitive in general. That university is like a Miami favorite. Any graduate program offered is competitive especially psychology. Universities such as: UF, UM and FSU have big competition.
