dptdreams, it really does depend on a few things. The class size is suppose to be 60 but they do accept about 70ish counting on those extra 10ish to go to different schools. However, the big factor is if those students do choose to go to different schools.
Take my class for example. UM Flint class of 2016 (last years class) accepted 72 students. Only 4 of those students went elsewhere and everyone decided to stay at UM Flint. But this actually proved to be a big problem for the faculty since they had to figure out how to accommodate 8 extra students...lol So this is where i will probably get your hopes up a bit. Our profess have mentioned that the number of acceptances will probably decrease a bit since our class decide to complicate things for them..lol Also, what happened with my class was kind of a not so common thing to happen.. Hopefully for your class, those 'extra' students pick other schools for your sake!
At any rate, the point of my post is to give you an idea of what you should expect and what I've personally heard being a current student. I understand this process and how it can be nerve wrecking...especially in your case! Also keep in mind that students can change their mind at the last minute too. One student showed up to orientation in July and decided to go to Wayne State instead so it can happen at any time. I heard a case from a different school last year that someone quit their program a week in. The professors called the next person on the alt list and that student accepted and moved and everything a week after classes started...lol Just keep your phone close and good luck!! Let me know if you get in!
