Optional Prompt:
"If you recognize and/or represent a voice/community/entity that is missing or underrepresented in the dental profession, please use the space below to share your thoughts about how expanded representation might impact dentistry."

Is this prompt meant for underrepresented applicants only or everyone?

Is it worth sending a letter of continued interest or are they usually not receptive to them?

It never hurts to send one! Usually the admissions committee sends a large wave after the New Year so trust the process if you dont hear anything

anyone heard from uni of Michigan yet?

im in state and first round of interviews if that counts for anything xD

Edit: someone said on reddit that they got a call, so they have started calls

Welcome to University of Michigan School of Dentistry Class of 2029!!

My name is Julianna Summers, I am the current D1 president for the class of 2028. I have organized some D1 liaisons for you all to get matriculated into UMich Dental (they dont start until Monday so hold off on too many questions lol).

Join the class of 2029 Facebook group! This fb group will be used for questions and contacts for housing and life in Ann Arbor. Upperclassmen will join to answer your questions. Be on the lookout here for subleases or rent take overs as Ann Arbor housing moves quick!

FB group here! (please only join if you have been accepted! admins will be checking who joins!)

Contact me with any questions! I am from Ann Arbor so I can answer lots of questions about your life here at UMich! My email is [email protected] or insta: @summers_smiles_ . I will also be available in the group me!

Again welcome to the UMich dentistry family! Congrats on working hard to get into this wonderful school!
See you all soon! Go Blue!

My daughter received an interview invitation on January 17, and it is scheduled on January 29 and 30. 29th is an interview and 30th is a virtual tour. She said the e-mail shows it will be the last interview in this cycle, and 48 people will attend the virtual tour. I am not sure it means 48 people will be interviewed as well, though.

was anyone put on the waitlist?
I interviewed in November and didn't hear anything in December, not even about being waitlisted. My aadsas still says something about interviewing. Wondering when I will hear from them

i interviewed in october, and from what i've seen in past sdn forums, they usually will give us some kind of a decision in the first week of feburary

I believe they said it would be in the afternoon when they start calling so hopefully we hear soon. if we don’t hear today then they said they will call on Monday
cool cool, i'm just nervous/excited/curious bc its officially the afternoon now haha

congrats!

im assuming theyre gonna accept ppl till EOD, and then send out emails either later today or monday for WL/rejection

i just dont know what to think of myself yet since i guess calls have started at 1:30
what's EOD do you assume, 5?

and I am assuming today would be the last day for them to announce acceptances? (besides acceptance from the waitlist)

didn’t they say we would receive at least a response today? I didn’t hear anything from them

yup, its 5:16pm and no email, no aadsas change nothing

we might hear back on monday but who knows anything at this point, on the FLIP SIDE maybe they are going to accept more on monday and THEN send final decision emails???? (i am COPING)

Literally what my thought process too 😭 hoping that they just didn’t get a chance to get through all their acceptances today especially since they started calling later in the day

At this point I’m just trying to cope myself to reapply next year lol

Does anyone know the chances for getting off the waitlist for instate ?

rejected, instate, first round interview

goodluck to everyone else, upset that i didnt get on the WL

For those joining us next year, we’ve created a GroupMe and a Facebook group to connect, share resources, and get to know each other before school starts. Feel free to join:

📲 GroupMe: GroupMe - Join the group for UMich Class of 2029
📘 Facebook Group: Log into Facebook

I also want to take a moment to acknowledge those who may not have received the news they were hoping for today. If you were waitlisted or didn’t get in this cycle, this is not the end of your journey. Many successful dental students and dentists faced setbacks along the way but persevered. Keep pushing forward, stay committed, and know that your hard work will pay off.

If you need support or advice, feel free to reach out—you're not alone in this! 💙
