Hi, i will be a freshman at the school next year. Does anyone have any tips on classes to take, or professors to avoid? What are the weeding out classes therE?

The "weed out" classes are going to be the chemistry pre-reqs (gen chem 1 and 2, orgo 1 and 2).

Take classes that you enjoy, you'll be able to pay attention and dedicate yourself to studying. Your major DOES NOT MATTER, so choose what you love.

ps. you would probably want to get off SDN, you are getting sucked in toooo early!

pps. not a personal attack, just feel bad for you that you are going to be a wolverine😛

Do any students that go there have any tips?

Have fun your freshman year, or at least 1st semester. Take a relatively light schedule (14-15 credits, 2 sciences MAX) so you can adjust to college life and enjoy the football games and Greek scene because after freshman year, classes actually become difficult and free time is harder to find.

Hey I went there and still live in AA now...I took most of the pre-req classes a few years ago so I'm not sure about which professors are better/easier or whatever...I do have lots of young friends who are just taking those classes though so if you have a questions about someone particular, I could probably get an answer...anyway, from my experience, the toughest pre-med type classes are the two organic chemistry classes, the two calc-based physics (if you have to take calc based because of your major), and genetics...most all the other classes were really pretty reasonable...and even of these, if you put the time in, the only pretty rough one is the calc based physics...I had numerous pre-med friends take these courses at Eastern Michigan b/c of this, some of whom now attend UofM Med School...if you take the physics here be prepared to get used to 40% averages and feeling like an idiot every time you take a test unless you are exceptional at physics...I would say start out with gen chem or bio, calc I (or whatever you place into), english, and work on the language requirement if you need to just to get a feel for everything first semester without too heavy a work load

Take an acting class in the Theatre department. That will improve your interviewing skills.

genchem and organic were the huge weeder out classes when i was there...i took organic during spring term and had Nolta, who was like the organic legend over there 🙂 don't know if she's still there but she's great!

ditto taking physics at EMU, I know a lot of people that did that! and don't let the weeder out classes get you down, i thought the upper levels were soo much more interesting and manageable. good luck!
