Hey all,

I got an interview at U of Mich planned for Oct 15 and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for places to stay? I know there is a link on the website and in the information the admissions office sent, but I figured there is nothing better than getting some advice from SDNers.

Also, would you recommend renting a car?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

i did my undergrad at michigan and the parking there is horrible, so i wouldn't get a car if i could help it (unless they state that they will allow you to park in the patient parking lot next to the school).

hotel wise, there are not many places to stay on campus. the ones available are probably on the pricey side. so just do a search of ann arbor and see if any of them offer shuttle service

congrats on the interview! unless you're 25, i don't think you can rent a car. i would try to stay as close as possible to reduce the risk of something happening and making you late. and like iwantdental said, parking is real tough in aa.
what was your aadsas mailing date?

Actually, I am 25 so I will probably look into parking to see if there is some reserved parking for interviewees. Thanks for all the info everyone.

Btw, I was in the first mailing batch (7/2/10).

the parking here is really bad
there might be spots near hospital underground parking structures
I don't think there are parking spaces reserved for interviewees
there are many hotels near four point (cheaper ones), that are about 10 minutes away from dental school
there are michigan flyers (airport shuttle buses) that go directly from airport to four point hotel
Hope this helps

You can park in the Palmer structure which is adjacent to the dental school. It is by far the easiest option, as previously noted, parking is sparse. It will however cost you around 7 dollars for the day. It's like 45 cents per 1/2 hr. I stayed at the Lamp Post inn. It is close enough to get to the dental school quickly. It definitely isn't the nicest place, but for ~50 bucks, it was my best option... Call them directly for the best rates. Renting a car isn't a bad idea, its about a 25 minute drive from DTW to Ann Arbor, so plan accordingly.

Good luck in your interview, we'll see you soon.

Thanks for the info teedoff00! I'm going to look into a few places and see if I'm better off renting a car or just taking cabs to and from. Are you currently a student there?
