Hi - didn't see this on interview impressions so I'm asking through a thread.

How is the program in Jackson? Anyone have any impressions from interviewing, residency, away rotations, or being a med student here? Thanks!

Not the most prestigious program, but a good group of residents and faculty. The recent graduates have gone into fellowships at Emory, Wash U, and Case Western. The residents seem to get along well and do not seem overworked or malignant. The program coordinator is super cool and gets the really nice lunches for the residents and students multiple times a week. They are in a hiring spree and adding attending from Ivy League schools.
I did an away rotation there and can answer any other questions if needed.

I trained there and now work in Mississippi. Its a fantastic program - attracts good faculty that are interested in teaching. Some of the superstars (Herndon, Corbett, and Duane Haines * [of DE Haines Neuroanatomy textbook) have retired but they left a good mark on the program.
