I received an invitation to interview at UNE in October and I was wondering if anyone had any info they could share about the process, what kinds of questions they ask, how soon after you get a decision, etc. I've interviewed for plenty of jobs since I'm a full time engineer making a career change and have plenty of experience in that regard but I'm just unsure of what to expect with this type of interview. Any interview insight would be great and UNE specifically even better. Thanks!

Congrats on the interview invitation. I also applied to UNE, but I'm waiting to submit my GRE scores to them. If you don't mind, what were your stats like when applying to the program?

I also applied, when did you submit everything/hear back? If you don't mind sharing.

I submitted on sept 19. But I was still waiting on one LoR and then I had some issues with a couple of my classes so UNE emailed me saying my application was on hold. After emailing them on the 25th with the info they needed they were able to get my application sorted out and I heard back Wednesday the 27th about an interview. Stats are 3.65 gpa, 323 gre with 5.0 writing, b.s. in civil engineering, 60 hours of observation (I had to take vacation days to do them so I could only get so much) recommendations from a PT, professor, and supervisor at work. I am four years out of undergrad, so non-traditional track. Is that what you were looking for in terms of stats?

I am interviewing at UNE in October as well! I submitted in late August and heard back from them two weeks ago.

I interviewed at UNE last year. The interview process first consisted of a meeting for all of us there to get to know the school better and then you get to hear from the director of the program and meet some professors. The actual interview was short in the face to face time with the professor. Last year, I only interviewed with one professor for about 15 minutes. Each student in my group met with only 1 professor. While your group was in the interviews, other groups of student toured the campus. It was overall a relaxed process I felt, they mainly asked the typical questions of why UNE, why PT, what interested me in the area, and other questions that were more for conversation. I remember the current student who took my group on the tour said he talked about what he knew of the New England area in his interview since he was from the mid-west somewhere. Mostly seemed like they wanted to get to know you personally.

Did you get your interview yet?
How did it go? If you don't mind me asking what kind of interview questions did you have and how long was the tour?
Did they ask something like "why should we choose you?"
I have my interview invitation today for november 17. It's my first PT school interview. I'm nervous.

I actually just had it yesterday. It was very laid back. They did a lunch for us, a bunch of people came to talk about the program, then we broke into groups. Some went on the tour first, some had interview first, just depended. The actual interview was pretty short, I wish I had more time. There were a few scripted questions like what do you think pt is, why une, what are some of the challenges you foresee about going back to graduate school, etc. I had about 10 min or so to then just kind of talk with the interviewer. They purposely put you with someone who hasn’t read your application so they can get an unbiased opinion of your personality and how you would fit in with the program. Overall very laid back. I have interviewed with lots of different companies for various jobs and this was one of the easier interviews i have ever done.

Hey!

I just received an interview at UNE for November 17th. Any advice for me before I head off for the interview? Anything I should read over or bring?

Also, have you heard back from the school on a decision since your interview?

I also interviewed on 10/20 and I heard back a week later that I was accepted, but they said within two weeks so it may take longer. I would recommend coming prepared with questions because there's a lot of opportunities to get them answered. I brought something to take notes on but they did give out a folder with information as well.

I will also interview November 17. Hopefully it's not too cold then.

Oh, awesome, how was the interview process like? Do you remember what the questions were like?

I have an interview lined up at UNE later this week. I was just wondering if people brought a guest? I know at other interviews I was invited to bring a guest and many people did, but UNE did not mention it.

I didn’t see anyone with a guest but it is worth checking with the grad admissions coordinator if you really want to.

I was just shocked at the amount of other people who brought guests at another interview I attended. Wasn't sure if that was the norm lol. Thank you, that answers my question!

UNE is one of the schools I applied to. I applied mid October, I recently got an email starting my application it's under review.
Would you guys mind sharing your stats?

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

As far as stats my GPA is a 3.98, 80th percentile for GRE, just over 100 hours observation, a number of extracurriculars. And I got offered an interview 5 days after that "being reviewed" email.

Oh wow that's great! My overall GPA it's good at 3.5, my BS GPA is 3.9 and my pre requisite GPA is 3.8.
I am a licensed personal trainer and I've had two years of experience. Over 120 hours of observation and some extra curricular activities.
My GRE isn't that great. 150V 148Q and 3.5W I wasn't able to use my better scores, because they only accept scores taken prior Oct 1st and the second time I took it was on Oct 10th.
I'm hoping I have a chance.

I still have not heard back from UNE since they received my application in September.....is this a bad sign?

Did you at least get an email saying your application it's under preliminary review? That was the very first email I got, then I received another saying it's under review. I haven't heard anything else ever since. But last time I heard from them was last Monday.
I applied October 24th.

To those who received an interview to UNE, did you guys submit a head shot photograph to them via email?

Shoot them an email and see what’s going on! UNE is pretty quick with their application process. They sent me an email stating my application has been received and will be reviewed (October 4th), I got an interview letter on October the 14th, had my interview 11/4, and got my status on 11/13

Did you get in? And could you share your stats if you don't mind?

I applied late October and yesterday I received an email saying all my pre requisite classes had been completed and I didn't have to do anything else for now.
This morning I received an email with an interview invite for December 8th. Did they get back with you by now?

I did send them the head shot. I doubt it would matter if you chose not to send it in, though. My interview was on October 20th and I was accepted on October 27th. If I'm accepted to my latest interview I will be declining the UNE offer, so hopefully my spot can be taken by someone else! Good luck, everyone!

I interviewed for UNE on the 17th and just heard back (21st) that I was put on waitlist. I have two more interviews coming up and still waiting to hear back from other schools. Hopefully I can get pulled off the waitlist!

I just declined my offer with UNE. I hope this frees up a spot very soon! Good luck everyone!

This will be my first interview, it said in the email you should plan to be in the school from 11am to 5:30pm. Do you actually stay there until then, or once your done with the tour and the interview you're free to go? Also since this is my first interview I'm still not sure of what to wear. I've heard men usually wear a suit. I'm honestly not a suit person and I was thinking more of busniness casual attire, like dress pants, black dress shoes, a white button up shirt, a tie and a V-neck sweater. All neutral colors.
Also how many people get invited each interview session?

This will be a good first interview. It's very laid back.

You will stay there depending on when your interview is. If you interview earlier in the day and get a tour, some people were able to leave around 3:45 pm. For me, my interview was at 4 pm, so I was there until around 4:45 pm-5pm.

I wore a black jacket, blue button down, tie, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. Most of the guys wore suits, but I guess it would be your preference, but I would recommend a suit since it is a professional interview.

They said each interview day should be around 48-ish people. Mine was only 37 people because of so many events happening on the campus that day.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I'll probably take a suit jacket with me just in case.
About 48 people? I wonder how many interview dates they have. It seems like a lot of people per session unless they only have a few dates. I've heard most programs have about 20 people in each interview date, but then again UNE has rolling admissions so that might be why.

So I'm in the same boat. I applied late september and haven't heard back trey about any interview either. My theory is that everyone who heard back so soon pretty much had exactly what they were looking for stat wise (GPA and such) and for me, my gpa is 3.2 and they're waiting to see out they fill up spots with better candidates.
Just a thought. I'm not going into panic mode yet.

Hang in there! I've heard UNE has a lot of declines from students that end up getting accepted in other schools with more affordable toution. Half of their students come from waitlists.
Don't lose hope.

I'm not too worried just yet. I'm around 4k hours of experience and a good connect

Yeah I'm not going crazy just yet. Just would like to know already!!!

So they have multiple interview dates?

So they have multiple interview dates?
Yeah, when I was there on Friday they said they had had 4 other days before that, and they're doing a couple more until Feb!

The interview was very easy. I was the last person who they interviewed so I was there until 5pm. I honestly wasn’t nervous at all. It felt more like a conversation than an actual interview. They said the interview is only a small portion of your entire application sobeven if you don’t do good, you still have a pretty good chance to get accepted if you are a strong candidate.
They also put you with someone who hasn’t seen your application and knows little about you.
I was surprised to see the amount of people they interview each session. I wonder how many make the cut from each date. Maybe 5 to 10?

i interviewed the 20th as well! We must've been in the same interview pool 🙂 I will be declining my offer from them as well. I really liked the campus and the atmosphere- the price, not so much. Hopefully this frees up a spot for someone waiting 🙂

I was there last Friday too. They made it seem like we would hear by the end of this week. Have you heard from them yet?

I haven't heard anything.. Has anyone tried contacting them to see what's up?

Nope! Nothing here yet. When did you guys interview?
