I had reached out to the admission folks and they mentioned that early April would be the time of notification. Bummer

Holy smokes that’s really late...
From what I heard at the info session yesterday, there may be a delay this year due to the accreditation process the program is currently undergoing.

Hi everyone, I just got called with my acceptance earlier today. They said that they are waiting for accreditation and if they get it for the doctorate, you will be able to choose between a masters and a doctorate. The deadline for a deposit is May 1st. They said they would send out an official letter this week or next.

Congrats!!! I was accepted as well!
I was really surprised when she said we have the option for masters or OTD... I thought I was fully committed to another school, but this definitely changes things for me. I would really prefer a masters program if given the choice!!

Very solid and impressive stats! Congratulations once again!

Hey everyone! I’ve received two calls from Puget Sound but they’ve always gotten me while I’m at work, I called back and left them a voicemail but now I’m worried it’s not good news! I’m probably just being paranoid, but I don’t think they’d call if it wasn’t an acceptance right?

Did you get any info last year about the courses required for the Masters Program? I don't see any type of course grid for the program on their website. thanks!

Hi guys just a heads up that my acceptance letter went to my Junk/spam mail folder about an hour ago just a heads up in case it happened to anyone else!

I didn’t get any info last year! Really just the call of acceptance and later some info about the option to defer until the doctorate program started.

thanks! I guess we'll find out more at the Apr 3 meeting.

Does anyone know if they still plan on holding the April 3rd meeting with the coronavirus ramping up? Trying to figure out if I should book flights.

I emailed last week asking about that and got this response on March 12:

Thanks for reaching out about plans for our accepted student event. As you can imagine, things are changing rapidly and we just learned a few hours ago that coursework will remain online until further notice, but most likely through the end of the spring semester.

At this point, we are looking at whether to delay the accepted student event as well as options for offering it online. As soon as we have a new plan we will share that with accepted students.

did anyone receive scholarships? I am an out of state student and only received unsubsidized and graduate plus loans. so a total of 68,000 a year in loans.

Did you receive your packet in the mail with that information? Ugh, I’ve been banking on some type of scholarship as I’m an out of state student as well. $68,000 a year is a tough pill to swallow

Has anyone heard any updates about the admitted student meeting?

The info session was on the same date as the in person meeting (april 3rd) but it was held on Zoom.

I got the phone call for admissions but did not receive the email to access my portal and admitted student info session. I emailed the department just to be sure I was admitted... it is weird that some students did not receive the email ... I wonder what is going on...???

Check your spam/junk folder! I found mine there.

I checked my spam and I didn’t get anything. I sent an email last night so hopefully I hear back next week. Was there any helpful information at the meeting for those who went?

Hello,

There was general information about the overall program that was put out but my biggest takeaway was the added coursework and tuition differences in the MOT and OTD. It is quite expensive from what they laid out, even though it's not finalized one way or the other. I've already submitted my deposit and I'll be there this fall, regardless. There was also some info on housing and what options may be available in and around the university. I'm local so for me it isn't an issue. Hope you got some feedback from Jenny (faculty go by their first name) who was the presenter. take care.

When you say added coursework and tuition differences, do you mean the OTD having more/ more expensive than the MOT? Did they give any info on when we get to decide which program we want to do? I really want to go the MOT route and not the OTD.
Thanks!

Dear Accepted Students,

Thank you for participating in our virtual event this past Friday April 3rd. We hope that the presentation gave you helpful information about our School of Occupational Therapy mission, philosophy, values, and curriculum, both our existing fully accredited MSOT program and the proposed OTD program.

We anticipate hearing from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) regarding our application for Candidacy status as a doctoral program in the next few weeks. Once we learn of ACOTE’s decision regarding our proposed OTD program, we will then be able to update our School of Occupational Therapy website with further information about our curriculum.

I have received follow-up questions from several of you about the tuition differential between the MSOT and the proposed OTD degree option. Here is the link to tuition information on the University of Puget Sound website. We anticipate that the final semester of the proposed OTD degree will be approximately $12,000. Further, the proposed OTD program curriculum is anticipated to have 1 unit more of course load across the first 4 semesters compared with the MSOT curriculum. Therefore, the anticipated tuition differential between programs is expected to be approximately $18,000. However, based on feedback from ACOTE and curricular updates, there may be changes to this tuition estimate.

Hey folks,

I hope you are doing well. Not sure how many of you have decided to attend UPS. I'll be there and can't wait to start the program. I'm also not sure what the fall semester will look like if we are still continuing these restrictions. If you are moving here from out of town/state, I hope you have a safe transition. I know it must be difficult to relocate. I am local so if anyone has any kind of questions, I will try my best to help out. take care.

Hello! I am relocating from Montana and on the hunt for affordable housing. I don’t know the area at all, so I was wondering if you knew of any resources?
Thank you so much!

Hello. In and around Northend is where most of the students locate housing. The area where UPS is located is very historic with quiet little neighborhood streets and single family homes. It is actually a very nice area with major department stores like Target/Walmart right down the street as well as small business shops and restaurants. I live 20-30 minutes from the campus so commuting that far away is difficult with traffic. Living around the campus will probably be your best bet. Not sure what price range you were looking at but there's a variety of places listed for that area in different price ranges/square footage. During our last accepted student meeting, a current UPS student mentioned that there were people from the current cohort who were residing as roommates. I hope this helps you a little. Take care.
