I think, if it's your first choice, that sending them a letter of intent with all the reasons they are your first choice would be the best course of action. When deciding who gets off the waitlist, LOI are some of the biggest factors.

Yeah, thanks for that info but way ahead of you on that.

The process of accepting a waitlist there requires an initial letter of intent etc. It's already been written and e-mailed.

Last year two of my friends entered medical school, ironically both at schools they were waitlisted (which were both their top choices). My one friend was planning on going to Stony Brook then NYU called him 2 weeks into the summer. My other friend was doing a summer program at NYCOM when he found out about LECOM and took off.

From them I learned persistance and letter writing pays off. Probably a letter once every 2 or 3 weeks is in the plans.

So here I am, LECOM in hand but really wanting UR.

spark of hope? anyone?

I'm in my first year at Rochester. Last year when the deadlines were approaching we all were waiting to hear about financial aid packages from the schools we were holding spots from. If you don't hear something soon after the deadline to get back your deposits that the AAMC sets, be assured that another wave of openings will come after the financial aid awards start hitting mailboxes. Also, people who got into Rochester as their second or third choice will be getting calls from first choices at the last moment which frees up more spots last minute. I know we have people in the class that got called off the waitlist as late as the friday before orientation in August so hang in there. Good luck!
