I tried bumping some old threads to no avail, so here goes nothing!

Anyone interview there lately? What were your thoughts about it? I am wondering how tough they are on out-of-staters being 1 of 2 schools in the whole state.

Cookie time, is it really that bad?
Any good lodging that you would recommend near the school and anything one should definitely see/do while in Columbia?

Any interview advice (as there are only 32 reviews for USC SOM in the interview feedback)?
Thanks!

Sorry, but I don't like Cola., SC that much, so my info. may seem a little tainted. The party line of out-of-staters is that they only accept those with strong ties to the state. That assumes you are not MD/PhD, in which case I would assume they are more flexible.

They seemed a bit high on themselves (for being U So. Carolina SOM) at my interview. The school is located away from the main campus near the Dorn VA Hospital. Never really looked like an area I would want to spend much time away from being on the campus.

Did I say I don't really like Columbia yet? Well, no "must see" places of interest. Lunch in 5 Points or The Vista would be okay. Beezer's is a good sub shop near the main campus. The USC Athletic facilities are in the slums. The state capitol is there (with a rebel flag on the grounds). Like I said, Columbia is a bore. I only applied as a safety.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

6 Mos. and counting until I get OUT OF COLUMBIA!!!
