Hi! I am applying to University of Washington school of Dentistry, and I was wondering if applying to the RIDE program increases your chances of getting in? Or does not applying to the RIDE program decrease your chances of acceptance? Thanks!

Hello, I am the Vice President of the class of 2023. At the interview last year they told us it does not help or hurt your chances of acceptance. However, one important thing to consider is that if you apply for and are accepted to the RIDE program you cannot say yes to UWSOD but no the RIDE program. In other words, if you are accepted into RIDE then you can't reject RIDE without rejecting your UWSOD acceptance. So only apply to the RIDE program if you are 100% certain you are okay with doing your first year in Spokane. The RIDE program is an awesome opportunity if accepted!

Did not realize even dental school had the student gov thing going. And you've already had elections to boot?

Yes, we have a student government. We elect a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a couple other positions. Our student council helps keep our class organized, connected, and having a fun time throughout school! We put together socials, fundraisers, loupe fairs, and help connect students and faculty.
