So I could really use some help. Currently have a January interview at University of Washington. I am really stretching money at this point on the interview trail. I just had to play checkers at a rest stop with a trucker for 4 hours straight in order to get 5 dollars for gas money.

I am at the point where I would only want to fly from the east coast to Seattle if it were a very good program that would end up ranked in my top 5. I am looking for this in a program:
1) Diverse urban environment where I'll see everything clinical
2) Strong clinical training
3) Laid-back residents that are team players
4) Lots of basic science research opportunities
5) Lots of elective time
6) Happy people. Happy residents. Happy attendings.

I have heard a lot about U Wash residents being overworked, unhappy, blah blah blah. I also know that there reputations tend to lag behind by 3ish years. Can anyone comment on the CURRENT state of the program. Message me if you feel more comfortable.

Thanks yall.

Well I can tell you the urban environment is certainly diverse, and I know the University of Washington always strives to keep a high level of diversity in their student body...
I know it's not much but hopefully that helps you a bit in your quest! Good luck!

What other places are you considering?
