  1. Pre-Dental
Unlike other schools, UNLV has no information about their specific dental program. It's all extremely general.

At the end of the supp., they ask if we want to attach a piece of paper with additional information (our learning circumstances or any other information), and I was planning on writing I want to go to UNLV. But I don't know WHY because their website freakin' sucks!

Anyone else know what to do? What to write about (I know some people are gonna say that if I don't have any special circumstances/new information, that I shouldn't write anything, BUT I WANT TO!)

oh shoot.. i didnt even know that I could have written something.. damn it😎

You already submitted it?

yeah.. i might have rushed it.. but here is what it says:

"Please attach an additional sheet to explain any extenuating circumstances or provide the admissions committee with
additional information that may be useful in evaluating your credentials."

So i guess i am OK. because it says just clarify things!!

Here's some info I remember from my interview.
UNLV

  • is rather high tech. They use electric, instead of air-driven, hand pieces, use digital X-ray, and paperless if I remember correctly.
  • doesn't have many residency programs. I think GPR, and pedo only.
  • doesn't teach rotary for endo, and doesn't allow molar endo for most cases.
  • 1/3 of the class is married.
  • Look up the vertical and horizontal integration curriculum. Dr. Kingsley has published several paper about the school's curriculum.

I see. I don't know what to write on my supplemental though. I'll mail it in today with the picture and everything but I'm desperately trying to figure out what to even WRITE!

Tips?

"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. As an applicant and prospective future representative of UNLV, I guarantee I possess the soundness of mind to know not to make drunken phone calls to out of state family and friends and not post lewd images of my body on such networking/media sites as Facebook, Youtube, Myspace, or Twitter. My acknowledgement of such sites is constructive reminder of my technological savvy and adequacy in handling the rigors of Powerpoint and Word, which I understand will be integral tools to the learning and practice of dentistry. Also not covered in my AADSAS application is my humble proficiency in the sport of beer pong, which necessitates the fine dexterity required to master the nuances of top/backspin, rotation, control and trajectory. This prior training will certainly aid me in the use of keyboards and mice, mainstay components of "computers," the vessels of such before-noted Microsoft Office programs above.

In addition, my acceptance into the dental program will promote diversity by not only expanding representation of the slight majority of single students, but also the underrepresented class of mediocre underachievers in a vast sea of 3.5+gpa students which seems to be an institutional standard. It is my hope that with this supplement, the committee will be able to fully understand the many aspects of my psyche and so determine my full readiness to begin dental training at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine."

Come on guys. I need something to write about UNLV specifically. Their website sucks!

Their main competitor for students is USC. So they try to be different from USC's style so that students will pick what fits their style best. Go to USC's website, imagine a school opposite of that and write about how you'd like it.

LOL ^.

Not but seriously, GOD DAMNIT!

I wish this were easier. Usually you go to their site, they talk about their program and has nice stuff about it and your write about that. UNLV has the crappiest website known to man. Their supplemental .pdf is just a scanned version! Not even the real thing!

Regardless, anyone else submit? Help!😀

here are some options:

1. do a search, people have written about why they like unlv. check out the unlv vs ___ school b/c sdn people compare there too.

2. ask your predental friends or people from your pre-dental society who are applying

3. talk to a current student

maybe you will get answers then. if not, dont worry. i dont think many people write stuff in that section.

**true that regarding the pdf file...its a scanned version! LOL! prints out really bad for me
