Just curious,

What has happened to unmatched grads in previous years?

Any become successful or just gave up?

I know of a few that are practicing in the few states without residency. One was able to make his preceptorship "count" towards liscensure.

There was also talk of bringing the 1 year real deal preceptorship back... at least on epresent. no word since.

It looks like there was 100 percent placement for 2015? True or False?

Wonder how preceding years fared.. cant imagine everyone from 2013 matched..

Lastly, in previous years some spots opened after the scramble. anyone know what the word is for this year?

Congrats and good luck to all.

What I can tell you is no, there was not 100% placement for 2015.

As for spots opening after the scramble, don't hold your breath. 2013 saw this happen, but after match in 2014 nothing was added till the next round.

2014 had a couple spots that opened up after the match. Winthrop and Wake forest both took 2, though Wake Forest filled during the scramble period. Fargo filled after the match but it seemed like it was spoken for long before that. There was also Ochsner, which is not a new program but interviewed late due to some internal restructuring.

The CPME site lists upcoming programs awaiting approval:

My understanding is that the DMC program listed only spends the first year in Detroit for medical rotations, then goes to other facilities potentially around the country for podiatry and surgical rotations. Given that it has an unusual set-up, it may take a while for it to get approval, if ever.

All in all it doesn't seem like there are too many options available for the unmatched this year.

As far as graduates from previous years who were able to match are concerned, there were three from my school in 2014. Two of us matched, and the other had already chosen to practice in a state that does not require residency training.
