I just realized today that my personal statement on my AMCAS application was cut off by three words. I've already submitted. I'm already verified. I spent over six months writing that stupid person statement. I'm feeling a whole lot like the world's biggest idiot right about now.

I submitted my PS and noticed I had two grammatical errors. Mistakes happen, and there's nothing you can do about it now. I searched to see if others had similar problems, and not surprisingly, a couple grammatical errors or words being cutting off had basically no effect on whether someone gets into medical school or not. You'll be fine.

lol don't worry about it! unless without those 3 words make the last sentence somehow extremely offensive, you will be fine on the PS side!

Leaving out those three words will create unresolved tension in the adcom members' minds that can only be addressed by offering you interviews. 😉

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the reassurances. I was hoping the whole "you're only human" issue would factor into it... but I was still kicking myself for not being extra vigilant in my proof-reading.

Unless your sentence was cut off like this -

Medicine is a career choice I can't -

I wouldn't...worry?

But then again -

Wow, this is a career ender for sure. I calculate that your chance of acceptance has gone from a 74.8907% to a 3.9670% +/- 90%. I hope my math helps 😕

True that. Seriously though, don't trip. You should be golden with all them EC's. Rock on!!

Hey OP

Honestly, don't worry. On my AMCAS, I had listed two different Extracurricular Activities--A and B. But for the descriptions, I seriously copied and pasted description A under BOTH ACTIVITIES!

I thought the Adcoms would think I was a straight up idiot who couldn't read or didn't know how to copy and paste. Haha, but I just informed them with an update, and it worked out fine 🙂

Exactly my thoughts!

OMG, that's sort of awesome, actually. Maybe they won't notice. Or maybe they'll be like "soo, tell us about Activity B. It sounds an awful lot like Activity A..."

Seriously, though. There's nothing you can do about it now. I haven't actually gone back to read through mine yet because I don't want to find something and burst into tears. So I just take a deep breath and realize that there's nothing I can do about it now.

I'm reminded of that South Park episode where Stan asks Jimmy to tell Wendy that she's his "continuing source of inspiration."

Search Youtube--->south park continuing source of inspiration. I'd link it, but...

I think that mistake will get you interviews! MAYBE I SHOULD DO THAT! 🙂

Glad to hear I'm not the only person who had a copy and paste malfunction and that it didn't hurt your application. Thanks!
