hi,
five years ago i got my BS and applied for medical school (gpa: 3.7, mcat 33) but had to withdraw my application to due a serious medical problem. I was pretty much bed ridden and in chronic pain for these years before i realized is only going to get worse and have to manage it with heavy duty drugs and move on.
anyway last year i retook my mcats (34) and was hoping i could simply update my LORs from years back but realized:
1. non of my LORs are updateable (to be honest non were good enough to begin with, a quarter-page letters from ochem/biochem professors who barely knew me )
2. I cant do research for LOR at my old university (because of liability issues they dont take non-student volunteers)
2. I am not financially capable of going back for Masters degree just to update my resume
3. there are no classes at local community college good enough for a LOR
so here is my question:
How can i get the usual three required LORs? any input would be appreciated

Many (most?) schools allow non-traditional applicants to submit letters from employers, volunteer supervisors, etc. in lieu of the standard 2 science and 1 non-science. This option will take some detective work on your part since some schools will state it directly on their website and some will not. You might have to email the schools you are interested in to find out if they have alternative requirements for non-trads (but make sure you scour their website first).

Finally, you could try contacting some of your old professors that are still at your university. They occasionally get requests like this (from people they don't remember), and you might have to meet with them a few times, but it's possible you could get a letter in such a manner.
