Asking for a roommate, between these three programs for dental school which would be better ?
She would like to stay in west coast to be closer to family but the price of USC and UoP worry.
USC would be around $500,000
UoP would be around $450,000
Case Western would be $400,000

In the end all schools are on the expensive side so would the difference really matter at this point?
Also USC/UoP gives a DDS degree while CWRU gives a DMD degree, most people in the west coast
are more familiar with DDS so also wondering how important this will be in terms of finding a job?
USC also has name recognition so maybe finding patients would be easier?
In terms of future job prospects and being able to open up a private practice, which is the best?
How does UoP 3 year program come into play in terms of tuition and debt load? Thanks

I'd say go UoP. She can stay on the west coast, it's cheaper than USC and it's only a 3 year program so she can start making $$$ faster to tackle the debt.

Drop USC, the real price after interest would reach 530K.
There is no difference between a DDS and DMD so this is not a factor, Western Pomona is in California as well
and they grant a DMD, so people will be familiar with the DMD degree so don't worry.
With interest CWRU will be 450K and UoP will reach 500K, but then again UoP lets you graduate a year early.
However it is still hard to find a good job in California so if you are planning on working around SF, you will likely earn a lower salary anyway.
You should go to UoP if you think you can handle a 3 year curriculum and are confident that you can land a job immediately after graduating.

UoP for the same reason that Advance said. She will have a year of Dr's salary to tackle her debt.

DDS is equivalent to a DMD. There have been studies that were done that said patients slightly favored DMDs because of its likeness to "MDs" but it was marginal. Personally, I like DDS. It doesn't matter at the end of the day.

Obviously, UoP is the best choice out of the three here. $450,000 is how UoP stands right now. Their international dental program sees tuition increases of 3.5% per year, so let's estimate that this is what the regular DDS program sees as well. Her true cost will be likely ~$465K.

Upon graduation, that debt burden at 6% will generate ~$28,000/yr in interest itself.

No one cares if you're a DMD or DDS.
Patients don't care where you went to school.
Patients will generally not demand your credentials.

UoP would be best financially. But the roomie needs to really reevaluate her plans with that sort of debt.
High debt
Low salary in CA
High cost of living
Life will be very difficult.

UoP. 3 yr vs 4 yr program makes the cost difference negligible and the fact that she prefers the west coast makes this an easy decision.
