I took my MCAT in June and got a 498. I ended up submitting my primary to most schools around the beginning of July and finished up most secondaries by the end of July. I retook the test in September and received a 502. Should I send an update letter to the schools that I am really interested in?

following! same situation

Your new MCAT score should automatically be transmitted to your schools once its sent to AACOMAS. I dont think you need to send an update letter specifically for this.

It would be more of a “letter of interest” which would include the higher score. If that makes sense? Wasn’t sure if this could increase chances of an II.

Im just a fellow applicant, so take this advice with a grain of salt -- but I dont think it would move the needle much. There wasnt a huge increase in your score, and even if there was, it would be atypical to update them solely on this. + its pretty early for a letter of interest, which are typically reserved for post-interview. Congrats on the >500 MCAT and I hope you get invites from your top schools!

I did this for just a few schools that I was really interested in. Got an interview invite at one of those recently. Once it’s updated to aacomas they automatically see it so you don’t really have to but I think it still shows you really like them to call or email and let them know.

I would bc some schools did not even see my updated score. In fact, I was rejected by a few since they mistakenly noted of my first score only in my app

Just an update, I sent my updated scores to schools and got an interview on the same day following a response from a school. I do not think it hurts you and in my case it helped.
