Update LORs, even if just to change the date?

I've talked to friends and they have mixed opinions about this. If you haven't had any interaction with your recommenders this past year, is it still important to ask them to re-submit a rec with a recent date? Do med schools look more favorably on more recent LORs? Thanks.
 
Yes, it is recommended. but don't stress out too much about it if it can't be done.
 
If the date is only a year ago, or so, I would just use them.
 
I think it depends on the type of letter. If you had a pre-med committee letter, you're probably fine with that, as long as you have an additional letter or two regarding what you've done since re-applying.
