Hi everyone, i heavily updated this post since the only thing that im considering between these two schools is if its "worth it" to go to case western over robert wood johnson RWJ. (cost is the same)
currently interested in peds, but i am aware that it can change once in med schools (nothing surgical tho lol). I know that case matches well, but so does rwj since i want to do residency back in the tri state area (and hopefully at top programs in the area). however, after talking with others they mention that i have to work harder (more pubs/networking/stand out) at rwj if i want a chance at a top residency program in the tri state while i may not have to do as much if i went to case (i still have to work hard ofc, but no need to absolutely stand out). also that since step 1 became p/f, name recognition/prestige matters more.
However, others say that RWJ is a school that matches extremely well (despite its lower ranking) and is considered underranked by program directors. Also, given regional bias, maybe the tri state programs weigh RWJ LORs better than case western?
Summary: is there a big enough of a difference between the two that it would make a big impact on future residency prospects.
