Due to an oversight, my friend is going to be unable to complete his intended cinema minor. Should he update the medical schools on this change? Will it change his chances for acceptance, seeing how he is on a few waitlists right now? If he doesn't update, is the infraction serious enough to warrant a revoking of an acceptance? Thanks for any advice you guys might have.

from waht i know - it isn't serious enough in the least. if one does not complete a degree program or someting, then its a provblem - cinema minor shouldn't be a problem. anecdotal evidence, but perhaps indicative - a friend didn't complete his double major in psychology as promised last year, and still was accepted off a waitlist @ upitt. he did include update letters - but was accepted off the waitlist before graduation (so he didn't withold that information post-grad). thats my understanding of the situatoin ---- worst spelllingever.

It's hard to say. It is just a minor... so maybe the med schools won't care and he can just wait till later to tell them. However, if he waits tilll later... he better be able to show that he had every intention of doing the minor at the time he first applied. In other words.. he better have a lot of cinema classes done already... so if the med schools decide to look at his transcript they're not going to see a kid who totally made something up just to look well-rounded... but rather a guy who just couldn't fit that last 1 or 2 classes in before graduation.

If anything looks shady at all... better tell them now. Otherwise, I don't see why it can't wait at leas another month or two. But I could be wrong.

thanks RP... that's sound advice... he has enough units for the minor... he just made ONE incorrect course substitution... didn't take enough upper division electives... that's all..
