do our schools automatically receive updated transcripts with grades from this past semester? if not, is it common practice to manually send recent grades? i would like my schools to see my newest grades, but i don't want to be that guy who mails med schools a copy of his report card.

You can list your grades as part of an update letter. I don't think it's necessary to send a transcript unless they ask for it.

If you list grades, and one of them ain't too great, do you have to list all?
So like, all or nothing?
And do schools view negatively if you don't list them if you have them?

Only send them if they are good, and don't worry about being the guy to send grades. Grades are important, especially in prereqs and other science courses.

They won't require you send them until you matriculate, so don't send any bad grades.

i'm not really familiar with the concept of an update letter, though i've seen the term tossed around a lot. is it just a normal letter addressed to the adcom with a few paragraphs to remind them of your interest and what you've been up to this past semester? as far as the grades go, would an unofficial printout of your online report card be appropriate?

Possible update letter format: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=10245229

I would not include a printout or attachment of your report card; a summary will do.

I have a question:
I remember a few schools telling us that even if we are accepted, we should keep them "updated" so as to remain competetive for scholarship opportunities. I can't remember exactly which schools said this (although I believe the University of Miami was one of them), so I was planning on sending a short (<1 page) letter to all the schools I applied to, whether accepted or waitlisted. I guess my question is will certain schools wonder, why is she sending me this, if I've already been accepted? Should I clarify my intentions in the letter or simply state I wanted to keep them up to date?
Thanks to all!
