what is the best way (i.e. most professional way) to update dental applications? i'd like to let d-schools know what i'm up to now..for example, teaching and shadowing more.
I think they only want updated transcripts. I've never heard of them wanting anything else besides that. I think by January, they still have applicants to review so they probably don't have time to go over updates.

In the midst of swarms of applications, I bet they could probably care less about what "you're up to now." What you're doing now is meant to go on the next cycle's application should you need to re-apply.
I made an unofficial visit to a d-school this past summer. The admissions person looked at my stats briefly and commented that I should do more shadowing in the summer and SEND THEM A LETTER explaining i am doing this. i assume it will just be put in my file and looked at when my app is reviewed.
in short: send a letter if you want something added to your app.
