Updating residency programs on poster acceptance

I just had a research abstract accepted for a poster presentation at an AACR conference, and am wondering if it's worth sending an email to my top programs letting them know. I already mentioned that I submitted the abstract during my interviews, so do you think it would be of much benefit?

Imagine yourself as a program director who just reviewed 1000 applications and helped interview 300 students. If you got an email from an applicant that a poster was accepted at a conference would ur immediate reaction be "poster at a conference?!?! We must rank this student higher!"

I think it's fine to include some updates in an email along the lines of "I'm writing you to let you know I'm ranking your program #1"

But alone...these updates will make no diffference and might just be an annoyance.
