Though all of the students say that everyone gets $10,000 or $15,000 scholarship.
beannaithe said:I believe that the students there said everyone gets between 10,000 -15,000 in the form of alumni scholarships and donations. So the scholarships just aren't limited to the Dean's scholarships.
The students we talked to really didn't elaborate on it a whole lot. They just kind of mentioned it in passing and then didn't really bring it up again. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

well, does anyone know of anyone who received this scholarship and what their stats were?

Sprgrover said:No, not everyone gets a scholarship - of any amount-, although scholarships are handed out to about 20-25% of the class and they are used as recruitment tools and not finances (i.e. need based). Usually applicants need at least a 3.8+ gpa, 20+ DAT scores, already have or will have a degree, and there seems to be an age component as well. I still don't know how they go about selecting the scholarship as all of the classmates that I thought received one didn't (in other words, the ones that met these criteria).

r0entgen said:hey,
i was curious if anyone here knows any people who received the dean's scholarship at upenn. if so, do you know their stats? thanks!

JessicaSimpson said:how does the age component work? Is it better if you are younger or older? What a weird thing to factor in.
Was there any correlation with scholarships and undergrad schools?
Sprgrover said:I can tell you that Penn expects to get over 2,000 applications this cycle (1,400 have already been received and processed) and they will be interviewing ~600 applictants for ~115 seats. Thus what might have been competitive three years ago isn't necessarily going to be competitive this cycle (i.e. someone with 20AA on the DAT versus someone with 22/23AA on the DAT) - infact, it probably won't as the matriculating stats keep climbing each year. 🙁
JessicaSimpson said:At my interview, they said that Penn won't be interviewing more people this year than they have in the past (300 something people) despite the rise in applications ... where did you hear 600 interviewees?
I'mFillingFine said:if people don't use theirs, the scholarships do get recycled.
I'mFillingFine said:...I called Corky and she said that if people don't use theirs, the scholarships do get recycled. Does anyone know what they're looking for this year and who they're trying to recruit? I don't know if there's a good way to present myself, or there's a shot that some people won't be accepting their scholarships?...
swanlake said:I'm wondering how it gets recycled. Do you have to chase the scholarship? Or if 5 out of 25 chose not to use it, then 26th-30th get it automatically? If that's the case, will school call you to notify you've won the scholarship? Or you won't find out until you actually matriculate Penn? Maybe I'm asking quetions you might have no idea......
I was pretty positive that I could win. 😴
