Are UPenn externships already paid for through UPenn tuition? Or would one have to pay UPenn tuition + externship costs?

i dunno if you would if you chose to do an externship at a clinic w/i Philadelphia....but id have to say def yes if you go out of the country

I forgot to mention "out of the country." And during those four weeks, is it during the school year? Or does everyone have a month off?

It depends on which site you go to. For example, if you go to an international site, Penn will help you with a percentage of your airfare or help out with lodging, but generally the bulk of your expenses have to be covered by you (out of pocket) and none of them and their associated costs are covered by tuition.

Some people schedule them in their month off, others during the year, and you don't have to do all of them at once. In order to go on one you have a good number of clinic points (the administration doesn't want you leaving if you are lagging behind in graduation requirements).

Thanks 🙂 Wow...paying out of my pocket. That'll probably mean paying with debt from some bank like SallieMae...except from my pocket.
