i know this is a little late to post this... but i'm having a BIG trouble deciding which school i want to go to... and the final deposit "holding" position date is coming up really soon.

i have been living in socal all my life... and USC seems like a pretty comfortable place for me.

Nevertheless, some pplz (like my dad who is a dentist) strongly urge me to go to upenn since usc is a PBL program.

Also, i want to end up practicing dentistry in the west coast... not the east coast...

any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks =D

If you enjoy party life, SC is for you...but, you have to realize that if you don't have the drive to self-study, PBL might be deleterious to your education in the long run (i.e. Boards). Upenn is highly academic and you will be put to study whether you like it or not...not much social life there..If i where you, I would choose Upenn.

Personally I would rather go to UPenn because I'm not a fan of a 100% PBL curriculum. It might be more comfortable for you to go to USC since you're from socal, but at the same time, when will you get a chance again to experience life on the east coast? Not being able to take the WREB at penn might make things a little more difficult, but since you dad's a dentist, it shouldn't be very hard to find board patients back in CA.

Upenn..... same reason as listed above (when will you get this chance again).

and you can take the wreb in philly. they don't offer it at penn, but they do at temple.

Hello Sherm.
While we're on this page, do you know if NERB's or other regional boards (excluding WREB obviously) are offered on the west coat (maybe even at PACIFIC) ?
And to the OP, PENN hands down.
Good Luck.

oOoo...your dad wants you to go to UPenn... then i guess you should go there. I'm sure he'd know what's best for you! ^_^

...unless you've been so troublesome @ home, he wanted you far FAR away! =P j/k.

...or he just doesn't want you to be discovered by Hollywood. 😉

(afterall...UPenn is a LoT safer in giving you the strong academics you'd need...since USC depends more on your own "drive" to learn) 🙂
