i was working on upenns app and it asks what interests me the most about dentistry and what interests me the least.. I dont have anything that i dont like but ithink that will sound bad. What have you guys been writing or what do you think?
With all due respect, I think if you have to ask other people what interests you about dentistry, you probably should look into it a little more before you jump into the whole deal. At the risk of sounding cliche, have you done any shadowing? That will give you some more concrete ideas about what you do and don't like. Good luck!
Well, for something you don't like about dentistry you can mention that it is probably a burden on your eyes in the long run. My dad is a dentist and he loves it but he tells me that his eyesight is slowly deteriorating.
i think when they're asking about what interests you the least it's not the negatives (ie, high work disabilities like hearing loss or tendonitis) but what specific parts of dentistry you don't like (on my secondary i wrote down ortho. doesn't interest me the bit, and kids have tiny mouths)
when i wrote this essay two years ago, i said i was uneasy going into a profession where nearly a quarter of the population has a substantial fear of coming to see me (and scores more really dread, if not fear, it). my interviewer really liked this answer.
My least favorite thing regarding dentistry was along the line of "That one patient who is never satisfied no matter how perfect the job turned out". Also, imagine a patient who hasn't brushed in...oh, a few weeks, and you can hardly breathe. You'll get them, trust me 😉 Just make sure to go easy on them, they tend to be bleeders.
