Anyone going to do it? I made a $7.50 donation and got this huge new avitar. I think it was worth the money. Plus SDN has helped me a great deal through the application process, so i thought it would be nice to give a little back.

I just noticed that if you donate that your name appears in italic on your post. Also for those who have donated, what size picture did it allow you to upload? It didn't let me upload the full 32.5 Kb, only 21 Kb, whats going on?

I was thinking about going for the angel too, but it was pointless because i have a good anti-virus/ad-remover program, so i don't have to worry about ads. I suggest getting a program such as Ad-aware to get rid of the ads. With this i never get pop-ups on SDN.

Or be an antiquated Mac user. I have never had any trouble with pop-ups on SDN and in general I don't have too much trouble with pop-up ads.

I would donate in a heart beat, but unfortunately I'm having some Paypal problems where I can not use Paypal at this time. Is there another way that SDN can accept donations? Yahoo PayDirect perhaps?

Don't make fun, its all Bill's fault. One day i was surfing SDN and my grilfriend looked over my shoulder and saw that Bill has a picture with his girl, so she asked me why i didn't so the same.....Thanks Bill......

Oh, and no popups, just the banner thingys at the top of the screen. They were driving me nuts: I'd sit down to analyze some data and an announcer's voice would whisper into my ear, "Rotate through Garden City Hospital!" "Come to St. James School of Medicine!"

Or maybe I'm just a little nuts.

Thats weird, i don't have sound on those banner ads? So the angel gets rid of the banner ads or what. Because i have no pop-ups or sound in the banner ads that the angel status is soposed to get rid of??

D'OH! Sorry; I wasn't clear. There is no sound in the ads, it was the "radio announcer voice in my head" that I was hearing, repeating the slogans I'd seen so many times when loading SDN pages.

Like when you're studying a whole lot, take a break, go to the fridge for a coke, the light turns on, and the radio announcer voice in your head blurts out "pyloric sphincter!" or somesuch nonsense. It's why we get punchy when we pull all-nighters studying, or at least contributory, from what I've seen.

And yes, the angel gets rid of the banner ads.

Truth be told, I'd rather have the "Donor" icon (nice and phallic-yonnnic) than the "Angel" icon, but once I found the option to go icon-free I stopped caring so much. 🙂

Thanks for clearing that up. I never really notice the banner ads, they are so small, so i guess i made the right choice. And i do agree about the icons, the doner one does look better. But on the other hand, the angel shows that you got some cash, which i definetly don't have!

There is a pixel requirement, too. Probably had a picture file that was small enough, but the actual picture itself was too big.

Thats pretty funny. Pre-Planned breaking up. i like that. It's funny that I did the same thing when I moved from Maryland(1.5 years at community college) to Michigan for my school. I knew like 2 months before that I am going to break up when I leave but I didn't tell her. I felt a little sorry for her and little bad about my self but that's life and things like this happen.

Probbaly not, thats why its called donation. Those who have donated, have done so to show their appreciation of the site and to support it; and on the side, they have been enjoying the option of a larger avitar. I'll donte as soon as i get around it.. i owe a lot more than $7.50 to SDN.
I wonder if it is tax deductible...

p.s: Any ladies out there want to take pics with me to put it on here??
