Hi All,

I am 1o years out of my undergrad and currently doing the prereqs to apply in this cycle. I am cutting it quite close and only applying to schools that will allow me without all prereqs complete.

SDSU - requires any upper level (200+) bio but it must have a lab and be taught on campus.
Duke - general or upper level bio with lab (I believe on campus)
Arcadia - upper division bio (300-400) can be online, no lab, can be taught by another dept but just bio based.

I have only taken Bio 1 at this point so I think I need to either take a 200 level bio on campus then a 300 or 400 bio, or a 200 level bio on campus then a 300-400 bio based online.

I have been having a crazy difficult time getting into classes as a post grad. Does anyone know of somewhere I can do the upper division bio based course online with Bio 1 as the only prereq? These prereqs are like a slow creep; it seems every time I re-review, there is one I didn't realize. Any help is greatly appreciated; I feel like I can't be the first to go through this.

Thank you everyone.

Are you sure you can't find ANY upper-div bio class at a university or community college? Even if you can't complete it this summer, many schools will let you apply with 1 or 2 courses left to take, so you might find a bio class in the Fall that you can take. It seems silly to just take an online class that will only work for Arcadia, when you can take one bio on campus that all 3 schools will accept.

Arcadia is the only school requiring a 300-400 level bio class or bio based class. In order to take a 300-400 level bio class, I would have to take a 200 level bio. The 200 level bio would be sufficient for the rest of the programs. As it stands right now, I am looking at doing prereqs at 2 different schools in the fall...1 which is not even close to me. Also, as far as I know, community colleges do not offer 300-400 level courses. I don't need to complete the course this summer; I just need to find one. Thank you for the response.

Gotcha, I skimmed your post and didn't realize that Arcadia requires a higher level than the other two schools. If you know of any 300-400 level online courses already, sometimes the pre-reqs aren't actually necessary to take the course. At my university, they were recommended but nobody checked if you had actually taken all the classes prior to enrolling in the course. I would email the professor if you have any 300-400 level courses that have any extra pre-reqs that you feel comfortable skipping over. Maybe you can contact an academic advisor or Arcadia itself to see if they have any advice.

Sorry if this isn't super helpful, but I don't know of any specific classes for you to take. Best of luck!

There are some programs that do not require upper level bio such as UNE. They only require 1 semester of general bio. I believe there are numerous programs that only require one semester of bio. I would recommend researching more programs on PTCAS that only require one semester of general bio in case you cannot complete an upper division bio class.

Thanks for the help guys. Fingers crossed I may have found the unicorn, a 300 level bio class that does not require a 200 bio or chem as a prerequisite that does have a lab.
