a/c to google, its associated with a failure of the urethra to close? can anyone explain a little on what this means and how it leads to stress incontinence.

In a normal female intra-abdominal pressure is transmitted to both the bladder and urethra. A cough or sneeze wouldn't cause urinary leakage due to the urethra being pinched. In a multiparous female the urethra becomes hypermobile and now the intra-abdominal pressure is only transmitted to the bladder leading to urinary leakage with coughing/sneezing. A question might mention a positive Qtip test. Movement of the Qtip of more than 30-degrees with straining indicates urethral hypermobility
