US Family Medicine Residency after University of Queensland MD Program?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You will apply to residency like any other FMG (Foreign Medical Grad) as the U.S. does not place Australian MD's any different from other outside countries. You will need to take the USMLE "steps" to apply for residency.

Of residencies, Family med (along with other primary based residencies) will the be the safest for a FMG to apply to as it has less competition than others.

Thank you 🙂

Get some time in the US doing clinical observerships before you get in too deep. You might find the US "system" isn't where you want to be. Regardless, exposure to how medicine is practiced and paid for here is nearly required before you'll be taken seriously.
