Yep - all the private ones. However, as far as I know, only Havard, Penn, Wash U and possibly Columbia offer financial aid to Canadians. All other private (and the UC schools I've looked at) schools require the cash for the WHOLE degree (~200-250K) placed away in advance.

But see prev thread for more info:

because there is a limited number of seats for international students and canadians ARE considered international students AFTER the undergrad, even by the private institutions.
the bulk money in an escrou accnt is true.

While it is true that most private schools accept Canadians, they do not have quotas or limits on the number of international students. On the record, admissions officials will tell you that international applications(yes, Canadians are international down here) are considered in precisely the same manner as American ones.

That said, the difficulty for Canadian students is that in order to sponsor your F-1 student visa, many med schools will ask that you demonstrate the ability to cover ALL four years of medical school. Some schools ask you to send an irrevocable letter of credit or to establish an escrow account with ~$230,000 in order to get your visa. Others schools let you pay by year, and still others will offer you a TA job that pays ~$30,000 per year so you don't have to fork over too much.

Hope that helps. I'll see you all in debt-country.

I think that some American schools must distinguish between International and Canadian. Harvard, I believe, is one of them. According to their stats they only interview 5 international students per year. This year I know 3 Canadians who have received interviews there (including me). I find it hard to believe that out of the 5 spots 3 went to Canadians and I know all of them (we're a small country.... but not that small). Same is true for Columbia and Penn - it cannot be that I know the only gunners in Canada.
