Hi all,

I'm a US citizen who finished general surgery residency in the US this past June and am currently in a 1-year fellowship. I'm looking to practice abroad after completing my fellowship year, specifically in Australia. I have been trying to do some research on how to make this transition, or if this transition is even possible but I have found mixed answers. Does anyone know any US trained surgeons who have gone through this process?

Yes. It's not as easy as just rocking up and showing them your training credentials.

There's a great thread in the international Australian forum from the US trained ENT who moved to Australia and did exactly what you are proposing. I'll try to find it and post the link when I get home.
