So I've been out in the private world for a while. I am doing well and have no real reason to change, but my kids are at an age that it might be nice to work outside the US for a while. My sister-in-law is in NZ so my wife wanted me to explore options. Anyone have any insight? I don't even know where to start.

I would talk to the folks in Global Medical Staffing (http://www.gmedical.com/).
They are a locums company which specializes in placement outside the US. Probably tell them that you are interested in doing this and ask them (gratis) what is possible. Also might not be a bad idea to do a locums gig there to make sure you won't hate it.

Things may have changed but NZ may train radiation oncologists to give chemotherapy like in the UK. Bernard Cummings at Princess Margaret was trained in NZ I believe. Not sure how this affects a non-similarly trained US doc looking to work there.
