Hello!

Thank you for starting this thread.

I was accepted into the USC DPT program for Fall 2016 on Feb 16. I haven't decided and given them my deposit yet, but I am leaning toward going. I have until March 7 to send in my initial deposit form and check.

My stats

School: UC Berkeley c/o 2012
Major: Integrative Biology, minor in chemistry
Cumulative GPA; 3.28 according to PTCAS
PreReq GPA: 3.17 according to PTCAS
GRE: 154V(63%)/158Q(71%)/5A(93%)

Extracurriculars: Officers of various clubs; 1000+ research experience; Human Anatomy TA, Human Physiology TA
Physical Therapy Volunteer/Work: 800+ hours of volunteering in various settings; Full Time PT Aide for 2+ years in orthopedic setting

Applied: A ton of schools
Accepted: Franklin Pierce (NH), Franklin Pierce (AZ), USC

I originally accepted the offer to Franklin Pierce (AZ) because it came first and I wasn't sure if I was going to hear back from anywhere else. I'm leaning toward attending USC, but the cost of tuition is extremely high.

Hello!

I just want to be clear, you are talking about the DPT program at the University of Southern California, right? And not the one at University of South Carolina? I believe the school in South Carolina one also has a DPT program, but they are not a part of PTCAS. I was accepted into Southern California.

USC sent me an email informing me about my acceptance. They said that a hard copy of the letter and the first deposit form will arrive in the mail at a later date. The first deposit is $1000. Once they receive your initial deposit form and the $1000, they will send you a second deposit form. The second deposit is $500. Both deposits will be applied toward your tuition.

Everyone has a different due date for the first deposit - which is based on when you receive the admission offer (around 3 weeks after you receive your offer). But I believe the second deposit should be around the same time for everyone (May 16) regardless of when you receive your first offer. By then (late April/early May), everyone should have received their admission offer, or at least that's USC's goal.

Was accepted in December but declined. So another spot 🙂

Thank you so much, yes i mean university of southern california

Do you think i have a chance? 🙁
If you haven't heard back, you might be on the waitlist. Have you tried contacting them to ask? If you're on the waitlist, I wouldn't lose hope, since a lot of people are turned off by the cost. I got accepted in December and had to secure my spot with a deposit, but I'm waiting to see how other (more affordable) prospects turn out.

I did, they won't say anything.
Thanks for your respond, good luck

Until they formally send you the rejection letter, there's always a chance. Either you're on the waitlist like @bromeliad said or they haven't gotten around to reviewing your application yet. They said that they will continue to send out decisions through April or May.

Hey! I'm actually a USC first-year right now. Randomly remembered this site and was looking for USC posts to help out. A lot of my classmates got acceptance letters 1st round- december, 2nd round- february. I'm not sure if any received acceptances after that but I will ask around. Also.. not sure how true this is but PTs that I've worked with that applied to USC that weren't accepted never had anymore communication with USC - don't know why USC does that but I think with as many applicants as they have they just want to focus on the acceptances and not sending out thousands of "rejection" letters.

Feel free to message me with any more questions. I'm on clinicals now and then spring break so I'll do my best to remember to log on and respond. Best of luck! Keep hope alive 🙂

You are correct! First deposit is based on acceptance date - I was accepted in December and my first deposit was due mid-January. Second deposit was due after "Spring Preview" I believe. Does this mean you've accepted? 🙂

Yes, I was accepted to USC's DPT program in February and they have already received my first deposit. I am waiting for my 2nd deposit form to arrive so I can fill that out and mail it back to them. In the admission letter I received, it said I had until May 16th to send my 2nd form and check back to the office, so I'm not too concerned about getting it at the moment. If I don't receive it in a few weeks, I'll contact the office to ask about it.
